FORT WORTH, Texas - The final two weeks of the regular season will be spent on the road as the TCU women's tennis team travels to No. 11 Oklahoma State on April 13 and Oklahoma on April 15.
The Horned Frogs (9-11, 0-5 Big 12) will head to Stillwater, Okla., first to take on the Cowgirls (15-2, 4-1 Big 12) on Friday at 5:30 p.m., before traveling to Norman, Okla., to take on the Sooners (12-9, 2-3 Big 12) on Sunday at 2 p.m., live on FOX Sports Oklahoma.
TCU Notables
TCU is still looking for its first win in conference action as the team enters the final two weekends of the regular season with two road trips.
TCU continues to have a ranked singles player in Aleksandra Zenovka at No. 92 with the senior boasting 16 wins on the season with three over ranked opponents. Fellow senior Donika Bashota leads the team with 18 wins on the season while freshman Stevie Kennedy has picked up 16 victories in singles action. In doubles, Bashota and Alexis Pereira have paired up at the top spot and won four straight matches while Stevie Kennedy and Marie Norris have a team-best six wins on the year.
Scouting the Cowgirls
Oklahoma State has only two losses on the season and boasts 15 wins and a No. 11 team ranking in the Oracle/ITA poll. Last week, Oklahoma State was able to pick up a 4-0 sweep of Oklahoma and a 4-2 victory over Tulsa. Cowgirls are ranked with Vladica Babic sitting at No. 23 in the singles poll with a 22-6 overall mark including 10 wins at the No. 1 spot. Babic is also ranked No. 10 in doubles with Sofia Blanco with a 21-7 mark. Megan McCray sits at No. 34 in the poll while Katarina Stresnakova rounds out the rankings at No. 102.
Scouting the Sooners
Oklahoma enters the weekend after picking up two straight 4-0 sweeps of Oral Roberts last week. The two victories snapped a four-match losing streak for the Sooners and put the team at 12 wins on the season. One Sooner is ranked in the Oracle/ITA singles poll with Lily Miyazaki holding down a No. 41 ranking with a team-best 11 wins on the season. Jasmine Asghar and Christiana Brigante have the best doubles mark for Oklahoma with an 8-6 record.
All-Time Series Records
Friday's match will be the 22nd match all-time between TCU and Oklahoma State with the Cowgirls holding the slight advantage at 11-10. Oklahoma State also holds the advantage in matches played in Stillwater at 5-3 and has won the last three straight matches at the Greenwood Tennis Center. Since becoming conference opponents, TCU won the first-ever meeting in 2013, but the Cowgirls have picked up the last six straight victories.
Sunday's match will be the 38th meeting all-time between TCU and Oklahoma with the Frogs holding the 23-14 advantage in the all-time series. TCU has won the last four straight matches dating back to 2015 and holds the edge in the matches played in Norman with a 9-5 record. Since becoming conference opponents, the Frogs have been 4-2 against Oklahoma with the only losses coming in the first two seasons of action.
