FORT WORTH, Texas - A 4-1 victory over Oregon on Sunday led the TCU women's tennis team to a sweep of its Pac-12 opponents this weekend as they pulled off the win at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth.
The Horned Frogs (5-1) were highly successful on the doubles court for the second straight match as they took wins on courts one and two over the Ducks (3-4) to take the early 1-0 lead in the match. Seda Arantekin and Caroline Wegner picked up win No. 11 this season as they shut down Oregon, 6-0, at the No. 2 position to open the match. The No. 16 pair of Donika Bashota and Olaya Garrido Rivas finished off the point by taking down Shweta Sangwan and Alyssa Tobita at the top position, 6-3.
TCU took the 2-0 lead in the match as No. 75 Seda Arantekin moved to 5-0 in dual matches with a 6-2, 7-5 win on court two. Oregon responded with their lone point of the match by grabbing the win on court six, but Donika Bashota moved the Frogs closer to the victory by scoring a 6-3, 7-5 victory at the No. 1 spot. With the final three courts into third sets, it was Garrido-Rivas who would provide point No. 4, as the senior came back from a tiebreaker loss in the first set to take the remaining sets, 6-2, 6-1, and clinch the victory for TCU.
