
Mazzoli Finishes Third at Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif. -- TCU sophomore Stefano Mazzoli finished in a tie for third place on Sunday as the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate wrapped up at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.
Mazzoli, who began the final round in second place, shot an even-par 72 on Sunday for a total score of 8-under 208. He tied with Jeremy Paul of Colorado.
Wyndham Clark of Oregon caught up to first and second round leader and teammate Norman Xiong, to tie Xiong for the tournament championship at 11-under 205.
Sophomore Pierre Mazier improved 11 spots after a 3-under 69 on Sunday, his best round of the tournament, to finish in a tie for ninth place at 3-under 213.
As a team, the Horned Frogs had their best round of the tournament with a 3-under 285. TCU tied with No. 34 Kansas for fourth place with a 2-under 862. The three teams that TCU lost to were all ranked in the top 25. Defending NCAA Champion and 10th-ranked Oregon won the tournament with a 26-under 838. No. 24 Colorado was second at 17-under 847 and No. 5 Texas Tech was third at 14-under 850.

- Competing as an individual, sophomore Turner MacLean moved up 17 spots to finish in a tie for 17th place with a 2-under 216. He was the top finisher not competing with a team. The 2-under 70 he shot on Sunday was his best of the tournament. - Triston Fisher shot an even-par 72, his best of the tournament, to finish in a tie for 31st at 3-over 219. - Competing as an individual, sophomore Jason Fitzgerald had the biggest move up the leaderboard after a career-best 1-under 71. He finished in a tie for 58th place. It was an improvement of 32 places after starting the round in 90th.
