Wylie’s Career Best Highlights Opening Round

SHIZOUKA, Japan – Junior Charlie Wylie opened the season with a career-best 6-under 65 to lead the Horned Frogs in the first round of the Pan Pacific University Super League Tournament on Wednesday in Japan.
Wylie started off with an eagle on the first hole, a par 5, and followed with four birdies for a 31 on the front nine. The Houston native had one more birdie on the back nine for a 34.
Toby Wilt also ended the first round in the top 10. He shot 4-under 67 and is in a tie for sixth place.
The two sophomores Nathan Miller and Sam Udovich are in the top 20. Miller shot 2-under 69 and is tied for 11th place while Udovich is 1-under 70 and tied for 15th place.
Making his collegiate debut, freshman Cameron Kuchar shot 3-over 74 and is in a tie for 38th place.
The Horned Frogs are in second place after shooting 13-under 271 in the opening round. Nihon University, a school in Tokyo, is in first with a score of 16-under 268. The unique tournament mixed with Japanese and American universities also includes 12 women's teams.
TCU will begin the second round Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. in Japan, which is Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. CT.
