FORT WORTH, Texas - Stellar play in doubles action carried the momentum for the TCU women's tennis team as they defeated Wichita State, 4-0, in the opening round of the 2017 ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Stillwater, Okla., on Saturday morning inside the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The Horned Frogs (3-0), who lost the double point a little under eight months ago in the first round of the NCAA Championship against the Shockers (1-1), were dominant on the top two courts to easily take the point. TCU carried the momentum into singles action as No. 115 Marie Norris only allowed Tin-Ya Hsu to win two games the entire match on her way to a 6-2, 6-0 victory and point No. 2 for the Frogs. Olaya Garrido-Rivas moved TCU closer to taking the match as the senior defeated Fatima Bizhukova, 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot.
No. 75 Seda Arantekin got her second win of the day and remained undefeated in dual match action on the season by taking down Gabriela Porubin, 6-2, 6-4, and clinched the overall match victory for the Frogs. TCU now remains undefeated in program history against the Shockers with an overall series record of 7-0.

"We came out with a lot of energy in doubles and carried it into singles. This is big for our team to win 4-0 eight months after we squeaked out a 4-3 last year in the NCAA Championship. We got a little complacent and passive at the end closing it out. Tomorrow we need to clean that part up and take it to them when closing out. If we do, it's going to be a good day tomorrow. Oklahoma State is a great team. And they will have a loud crowd. But we experienced it 10 months ago and most our girls know what to expect. So I feel our experience can really benefit us tomorrow.
