FORT WORTH - TCU rifle head coach Karen Monez has announced the addition of Emily Haag and Rachel Kimbell to the team. Both will be freshmen this upcoming season.
"I am thrilled to have these two additions to the team's incoming class," said Monez. "Both bring different strengths to the program. They will add quality and depth to the team. With their determination and drive to excel, I am very excited that they will be joining the women's rifle team this fall."
Haag hails from Harwood, N.D. where she starred on the range. The North Dakota state record holder for the 3-Position Air Rifle as well as Air Rifle prone, Haag served as a member of the four-person team named 2016 National Champions at the NRA National Junior Smallbore Rifle Indoor Championships. She also turned in a third place finish at the 2015 North Dakota Junior Olympic Qualifier match. Her victory earned Haag her second invite to the USA Shooting National Junior Olympic Rifle Championships.
She is also a two-time qualifier for the USA Shooting/Civilian Marksmanship Program National 3-Position Air Rifle Championships as well as being selected to the 2015 Randle Team at the NRA Smallbore Rifle National Championships.
Kimbell, a native of Jackson, Ga., has been competing for five years. She is a four-time qualifier for the USA Shooting/Civilian Marksmanship Program National 3-Position Air Rifle Championships as well as a two-time qualifier for the USA Shooting National Junior Olympic Rifle Championships.
Last July, at the Georgia Games, she tied for the top spot in both the 3-Position and 60 Shot Standing Air Rifle events. Additionally, she earned a first place finish at the 2015 Dixie Challenge hosted by the Civilian Marksmanship Program in Anniston, Alabama.
Kimbell is also a seven-year member of the Spivey Hall Tour Choir, which recently performed at Carnegie Hall last month.
The duo join Catherine Miller and Casey Lutz in the incoming freshman class.
