Summer Update: Olaya Garrido-Rivas

FORT WORTH, Texas – Every member of the TCU women's tennis team has returned home for the summer and has been hard a work preparing for the upcoming season and enjoying time with friends and family. Each week, we will take a look at what a different member of the team has been up to and next up is senior Olaya Garrido-Rivas.
Garrido-Rivas, a native of Gijon, Spain, opened her summer vacation by taking a trip to London to visit her cousin that works there. From there, Garrido-Rivas headed to her hometown of Gijon to spend time with her family and friends and also be reunited with her dogs – Alex and Pepa. At the beginning of July, the senior will head back to Fort Worth to begin practice and preparation for her final season as a Horned Frog.
TCU returns all but one letterwinner from the 2016 season that saw the Horned Frogs finish in a tie for second in the Big 12 Conference and advance to the second round of the NCAA Championship for the second straight season. Garrido-Rivas finished with an overall singles record of 23-13 and picked up wins in her last five consecutive matches. The senior was also a consistent presence on the doubles court and finished off her junior campaign with 20 wins with 12 of them coming during dual match season.
