FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 33 TCU women's tennis team wrapped up its road trip in Oklahoma by dropping a 4-1 decision to No. 15 Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla.
In the team's first televised match in program history, the Horned Frogs (12-5, 4-3 Big 12) went to battle and just barely dropped the doubles point to the Cowgirls (19-4, 7-0) who remain the only team undefeated in conference action. The No. 27 ranked pair of Seda Arantekin and Caroline Wegner earned the only doubles win of the day as the duo picked up their 21st victory this season and third over a ranked foe with a 6-3 downing of No. 36 Maria Alvarez and Kelsey Laurente.
In singles action, sophomore Aleksandra Zenovka put the lone point on the board for the Frogs as she was able to score a 6-3, 6-4 win over Carla Tur Mari on court five. The win evened up the match at 1-1 and earned Zenovka her third straight win this season and 22nd overall. After Zenovka's win, OSU took straight set wins on courts four, six and one to finish out the match and gain the overall match victory.
Quotes of the Match
Head Coach Lee Taylor Walker
"What a great match. The atmosphere was so good and our girls competed with superb effort and sportsmanship. The doubles point could've gone either way, as well as every singles match. To play in front of hundreds of fans that are loud and energetic, and to be on TV- what more can you ask for as a college tennis player? I think our girls enjoyed the stage and we gained invaluable experience that will hopefully benefit us in preparing for conference tournament here in 12 days. We want to win the conference tournament and we know it will be tough, but we know we can. I am proud of our girls and happy about where we are right now."
