FORT WORTH, Texas (March 2, 2016) - The No. 60 TCU women's tennis team opened the month of March by picking up their second straight victory of the season with a 6-1 win over No. 68 North Texas on Wednesday night at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The Horned Frogs (4-2) easily controlled the match from the very beginning as each doubles team went up by multiple breaks against the Mean Green (5-7). The duos on courts one and two each took 6-2 victories to secure the point and help the team to its third victory over a regional opponent this season.
The team took the momentum into singles action as Alexis Pereira quickly got off the court after claiming a 6-1, 6-2 win on court six. Olaya Garrido-Rivas battled back after starting the opening set down 4-1 to take her match on court four, 7-5, 6-2 and put the Frogs up 3-0 in the match. Seda Arantekin clinched the match for TCU by taking down Tamuna Kutubidze on court two, 6-2, 6-2.
After the match victory was claimed, Caroline Wegner and Aleksandra Zenovka also claimed straight set victories on courts three and five, respectively, to finish out the match with six points for the Frogs.

"This is the best I have felt about where our team is all year long. We came out with great energy in doubles and really executed in a lot of the things we have been working on. I was really happy about tonight's win. North Texas has played a lot of matches this year and are pretty much half way through their season and I feel like we are just getting started. It was a great and dominant win that gives us a lot of confidence going into this little 10 day break that we have."
