Day One at Tucker Comes to Close

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- TCU's Chelso Barrett shot one-under-par on the opening day of the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate to lead the Horned Frogs to a sixth place standing after two rounds of play. The Horned Frogs shot 294 and 291 on the opening day at the UNM South Championship Golf Course and are nine-over-par for the tournament with 18 holes remaining.

Chelso Barrett, a member of TCU's squad that finished in the top 10 at the NCAA Championships a year ago, led the Horned Frogs on the opening day of the tournament, posting a one-under par score through two rounds, posting a 72 in the first round and 71 in the second round. Barrett posted a nearly clean second round score card, posting one bogey and two birdies during the round.
The Horned Frogs have three four additional players competing as individuals at the event with Giulio Catagnara posting an opening round score of 69 and holding a tie for 13th place overall on the individual leaderboard.
The 2015 field also includes Arizona, Bowling Green, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Nevada, UTEP, Texas Tech, UNLV, San Diego, San Diego State and Wyoming. The 16-team field concludes competition on Saturday. The 2015 event marks the 48th year the tournament has been hosted at the UNM South Championship Golf Course.
