FORT WORTH, Texas - Senior Simona Parajova is set to begin her postseason individual run by competing in the 2015 NCAA Division I Women's Singles Championship on Thursday, May 20 at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
Parajova, a native of Slovakia, will open the 64-person bracket against No. 55 Lauren Marker of Arizona on Wednesday at 1 p.m. The All-Big 12 Singles Team member, Parajova's selection to the singles competition is the fourth straight year someone from TCU is making a postseason appearance and the 17th time in program history a singles player or doubles team has competed in the postseason.
This year, No. 46 Parajova has led the team from start to finish in singles action and has a record of 24-4 this season. Parajova has won her last 11 matches and is 16-2 at the No. 2 position for TCU. Parajova has downed five ranked opponents this season and finished Big 12 action with a perfect 5-0 record.
Parajova opened the season ranked No. 88 and won the singles consolation bracket at the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championships in the fall. Parajova climbed to as high as No. 38 in the spring with her only losses in dual matches coming to ranked opponents. The last loss Parajova suffered in the spring came on Feb. 14 to then-No. 31 Kyle McPhillips of UCLA.
