POSTGAME QUOTES
No. 25 TCU 62, Utah 41
Fort Worth, Texas (Daniel-Meyer Coliseum)
Jan. 9, 2010
Attendance: 2,173
HEAD COACH Jeff Mittie
Opening statement
"I thought points were hard to come by in this one. I thought we made just enough runs at the right times. Getting off to a good start was critical. I liked our defense. I cannot say enough about the job of Antoinette Thompson and Eboni Mangum switching off playing. Antoinette is really battling, and she has defended the best player at the wing spot going on about 4 or 5 games in a row. All in all, it was a good effort by us and a really good win."
On the effect of rebounding on TCU's offense
"Our rebounding has been inconsistent. When we rebound well, I think our offense is pretty solid because we are good in transition. Defensively, we have been a team that's getting better and better each game."
FRESHMAN FORWARD Starr Crawford
On the team's potential to make a run at the MWC title
"I think we have the potential, but it is just the beginning and I do not want to be the one to say that yet. I think we are playing great right now, and I feel we will continue to get better as a team."
JUNIOR GUARD Emily Carter
On how TCU reacts to inconsistent offensive play
"That is when we have to pick it up defensively and the get rebounds so we can get out in transition. We have to get steals to get fast break points. We were able to get fast break points early today when we hit that little slump of shooting (early in the second half)."
