Sept. 14, 2009
Golfweek ranked the TCU men's golf program as the top team in the Mountain West Conference and 14th overall in its 2009-10 Preseason National Standings.
The Frogs were ranked above five teams that finished in the top-10 a season ago in USC, Georgia Tech, Florida, Clemson and Arkansas. Last season, the Frogs were listed 16th overall in the final Golfweek national polls after finishing ninth overall at the 2009 NCAA National Championships.
TCU was also the top-ranked team in the Mountain West Conference above UNLV and San Diego State, who were listed 29th and 30th, in the preseason polls.
The Frogs will return five starters from their conference championship squad in senior Travis Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas | Paschal H.S.), juniors Tom Hoge (Fargo, N.D. | Fargo South H.S.) and Scott Roudebush (Austin, Texas | Austin H.S.) and sophomores Johan de Beer (Pretoria, South Africa | Pretoria Boys' H.S.) and Alexander Knappe (Brilon, Germany | Berufs H.S).
TCU will open up on Sept. 27-28 at the PING/Golfweek Preview at the Golf Mountain Golf Course in Bremerton, Wash.
