
Frogs complete opening day at Baylor Invitational

WACO, Texas - The TCU women's tennis season opened on Friday at the HEB Baylor Invitational, as three Horned Frogs competed in the event.
Maria Babanova, Idunn Hertzberg and Andrea Morgado all suffered first-round losses in the women's open singles "A" draw to three seeded opponents. Morgado, a senior from Plano, Texas, fell to No. 3 Lenka Broosova 6-1, 6-2. Babanova fell 6-4, 6-3 to No. 4 Michaela Babicova of South Alabama, while Hertzberg lost to No. 6 Yawna Allen of Oklahoma State 6-3, 6-4.
TCU freshmen Babanova and Hertzberg would bounce back in the singles "A" consolation draw, as each would notch their first collegiate victory. Babanova defeated Louisiana-Lafayette's Angela Dangond 6-2, 7-6(5), and Hertzberg downed Leila Salek of Houston 6-0, 6-1. Morgado would withdraw in the consolation's opening round due to injury.
In the women's open doubles "A" draw round of 16, the doubles team of Hertzberg and Morgado fell to Baylor's Karolina Filipiak and Taylor Ormond 8-5.
Action at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships will get underway on Saturday, as four TCU players will be competing in Pacific Palisades, Calif. For results from both tournaments, visit www.gofrogs.com.
