FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's tennis duo of Macall Harkins and Anna Sydorska will compete in the opening round of doubles play on Thursday at the 2007 ITA Intercollegiate Indoor Championships.
Harkins and Sydorska, ranked No. 14 nationally, were one of three teams to receive an at-large selection to the tournament after reaching the doubles final at the Wilson/ITA Southwest Championships. The TCU duo will meet Fresno Pacific's Anna Karavayeva and Maria Kolkotsky in the round of 16 on Thursday at 11 a.m.
Sydorska, a junior from Lviv, Ukraine, will make her third consecutive appearance at the National Indoor Championships. Last season, Sydorska and partner Ana Cetnik won three matches, including an upset of the top-seeded duo, to reach the championship round. In 2005, Sydorska advanced to the doubles quarterfinals with partner Helena Besovic.
The ITA Intercollegiate Indoor Championships will be hosted by Ohio State at the Racquet Club of Columbus. The tournament, which began in 1984, features the nation's top collegiate players and is the second of three national championship events this season.
