PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - The No. 14 ranked duo of Macall Harkins and Anna Sydorska fell in the second round of the qualifying draw on Wednesday as the TCU women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships.
Harkins and Sydorska fell 8-4 to Cal Poly's Brittany Blalock and Steffi Wong, who advanced from the doubles prequalifying draw.
"I was extremely impressed with Cal Poly's doubles team," said TCU head coach Jefferson Hammond. "They're as good as any team we played last year. I expect them to have a good season."
Harkins and Nina Munch-Soegaard also competed in the singles qualifying consolation draw, as both TCU netters dropped their matches in the second round. Harkins fell 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 to Auburn's Alex Haney, while Munch-Soegaard was defeated 6-3, 6-0 by Bianca Dulgheru of Pepperdine.
The next major event for the Frogs will be the ITA Regionals on Oct. 19-23 in Lubbock, Texas.
