
No. 25 TCU women's tennis blasts Utah, 7-0

PROVO, Utah - The 25th-ranked TCU women's tennis team recorded a dominating 7-0 victory over Utah on Saturday afternoon to improve to 14-6 overall and 5-0 in Mountain West Conference play. With the win and New Mexico's 4-3 loss to No. 26 BYU, the Frogs move into sole possession of first place in the MWC standings.
"Our intensity level was high and we really tried to focus," stated TCU head coach Dave Borelli. "I think that we are really focused. We are really excited about next week's competition, playing three ranked teams on the road. We just have to keep going out and play our game."
For the fourth time this season, the Frogs swept a Mountain West Conference foe as they continue to establish dominance as the newcomer to the league.
TCU's sophomore tandem of Nicole Leimbach and Kewa Nichols picked up the first win of the match with an 8-2 victory over Karine Bourgades and Cheyenne Reveche at No. 3.
Holding the No. 26 spot in the ITA doubles poll, senior Helena Besovic and junior Ana Cetnik won their third-straight match with an 8-2 decision over Elizabeth Ferris and Allison Sine to clinch the doubles point for the Frogs.
Sophomore Andrea Morgado and freshman Anna Sydorska completed the Horned Frog sweep with an 8-7(1) triumph at No. 2 over Emily Kwok and Leigh Walsh.
Senior Gloriann Lopez increased TCU's lead to 2-0 and picked up her 10th win of the season with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Jessica Watts. Lopez, a product of The Woodlands, Texas, has won five of her last six matches.
Cetnik, ranked 119th in the ITA singles poll, won her fifth-straight match with a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Walsh.
Besovic clinched the match for the Frogs with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 2 over Kwok. Besovic continues her dominant streak as she has won her last 12 matches. Hailing from Sarajevo, Bosnia, she is ranked 33rd in the current ITA singles poll.
Nichols posted the fourth singles win of the day for the Purple and White with a 6-0, 6-3 decision at No. 5 over Reveche.
12th-ranked Leimbach downed Ferris 6-2, 6-2 to propel TCU to a 6-0 match lead and bump her record to 5-0 versus MWC opponents.
For the second-straight match, No. 83 Sydorska closed out the competition. The freshman from Lviv, Ukraine, dropped Cinthia Saucedo 6-1, 7-5.
The Frogs head to Albuquerque, N.M., on Thursday to start a three-match road swing beginning with 40th-ranked New Mexico. Match time is slated for 4 p.m. (CST)
