
TCU swimmers complete action at UT Invite

FORT WORTH, Texas - Scott McCracken and Erica Tate participated in the UT Invite on Thursday (Nov. 30), where they placed second and third, respectively, in the TCU record book.
McCracken, a junior from Houston, Texas, slated a blistering time of 20.35 in the 50-free preliminary, just one-hundredth of a second off of the top time in TCU history. In the finals, McCracken recorded a 20.55 to place 14th out of 40 competitors in the event.
TCU senior Erica Tate took part in the 50-free and 100-fly events at the Invite. Tate earned a NCAA B Qualifying time of 23.43 in the 50-free preliminary, just four-hundredths of a second off of her time in the conference meet last year, which is the fourth-fastest time in school history. In the final, Tate recorded a time of 23.50 to finish 21st.
In the 100-fly event, Tate recorded a time of 56.58 in the preliminaries and 56.12 in the final to place 29th. Her final time ranks third in TCU history, behind her own marks of 55.41 and 55.43.
Junior Jonathon Berrettini and senior Guillermo Ramirez were also in action over the weekend. Berrettini, a native of Lewisville, Texas, participated in the U.S. Open at Purdue University, which included a field of 20 Olympians. Berrettini swam the 200-meter back in 2:10.65 to place 46th, while recording a time of 24.33 in the 50-meter free to finish 34th. Berrettini reached the finals in the 100-meter back with times of 59.23 in the preliminaries and 58.39 in the finals to place 18th.
Ramirez, last season's most valuable male swimmer, took part in the backstroke events at the Colombian Nationals.
