Tweedie-Yates and Besovic Advance In Qualifier

Pacific Palisades, Calif. - Senior Story Tweedie-Yates and junior Helena Besovic both advanced to the Round of 32 in the Qualifying Singles today. Both players now are two wins away from moving on to the Riviera/ITA All-American Championship's main draw.
Tweedie-Yates, who is No. 59 in the ITA fall rankings, defeated No. 112 Eva Wang of Harvard 6-0, 3-6, 6-0 in her first collegiate match for TCU. Tweedie-Yates previously played her first match for the Frogs in a professional event in Mexico earlier this season.
Besovic won her fifth match in four days when she defeated No. 63 Jennifer Klaschka of Middle Tennesse State 6-2, 6-2. This season, Besovic has now faced four players that are ranked in the ITA fall rankings and she has come away victorious in three of those matches.
On Wednesday, Tweedie-Yates and Besovic will return to the court against two players that are ranked in the top-36 in the country. Tweedie-Yates will square off with No. 33 Anca Anastasiu (No. 6 seed) of Southern California and Besovic will face No. 36 Mihela Moldovan (No. 9 seed) of Florida State. Last summer, Tweedie-Yates beat Anastasiu in a USTA Pro Circuit event in Springfield, Mo.
