Besovic Advances To Qualifying Tournament

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Junior Helena Besovic defeated Alex McGoodwin of UCLA today at the Los Angles Tennis Center to advance to the Qualifying Tournament at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.
In the first set, Besovic was up 5-2 with three set points, but McGoodwin fought back to claim the first set 7-5. Besovic, however, rebounded to win the match when she won the the final two sets 6-1, 6-2.
"I am really proud of the way Helena came back to win the match today after she dropped that tough opening set," said Head Coach Dave Borelli. "Any time we can beat a girl from UCLA, one of the top teams in the country, it is good for our program."
Besovic now joins senior Story Tweedie-Yates in the Qualifying Tournament that begins on Tuesday. Besovic will meet up with Jennifer Klaschka of Middle Tennessee State, while Tweedie-Yates will face Eva Wang of Harvard.
