Jean Madison was named to the TCU swimming and diving staff entering the 2018-2019 season.
Madison returns to TCU after coaching at William Jewel during the 2017-2018 season, where she assisted with all aspects of the program, including recruiting, training, operations, and overall student-athlete development. Prior to coaching for the Cardinals, the Lee's Summit, Mo. native was a graduate assistant at TCU from 2015-2017. She was the first assistant coach under William Jewel head coach Mark Gole.
"Jean is going to be a tremendous asset to our program right from the start," Head Coach James Winchester said. "Her technical knowledge is pretty high, especially swimming in the 3s system down at FIU under Randy Horner, the same system we will use here at TCU. As a young coach, she has definitely shown her grasp of the sport, is a relentless recruiter, and already has key experience here at TCU. She's one of the bright young coaches in our profession and I'm excited to see what she can do here."
During her two years as a graduate assistant at TCU, she coached under long-time coach Richard Sybesma and helped coach 42 athletes to All-Big 12 honors.
Before coming to TCU the first time, Madison was a division I standout at Florida International University. A four-year letter winner for the Panthers, she completed her career with top ten times in three different events and served as a team captain as a junior and senior. She capped her career by leading her team to the 2015 Conference USA Championship, the first such title in school history for any sport. Madison graduate in 2015 with a degree in physical education and a minor in communication.
Madison is a Lee's Summit West High School graduate, where she was an All-American and All-State swimmer, placing third in the 100 meter breaststroke at the Missouri State Championships.
