Adeola Akomolafe is in her 10th season with TCU women's basketball and third as the program's director of recruiting operations and student athlete development.
Akomolafe, who goes by “Ola,” is the first person to hold the role under head coach Mark Campbell.
Her name is one Horned Frog fans and TCU women’s basketball alumna are plenty familiar with. The El Paso native was a five-year letter winner for the Horned Frogs from 2015-2020 and still holds the school record for games played (135). She completed a two-year appointment as a graduate assistant for TCU women’s basketball from 2021-23 and was elevated into a full-time position by Campbell following his hire.
“We are thrilled to have Ola as a member of our staff,” Campbell said. “She has been amazing in helping all of us transition to TCU. She played here, obtained her master’s degree from TCU, and she absolutely loves everything about TCU. Ola has a fantastic work ethic and we are lucky and excited to have her as part of our coaching staff.”
Akomolafe serves as the program's video coordinator, a liaison to the TCU equipment and academic services staffs, aids in opponent scouting and oversees on-campus recruiting in her current role.
Over her decade in Funky Town, Akomolafe has helped elevate TCU women's basketball to the pinnacle of the sport. She helped guide TCU to its first Big 12 basketball championships and an Elite Eight run in 2024-25 and has been a member of five postseason squads. With her responsibilities as TCU's director of on-campus recruiting, Akomolafe has been a key figure in the Horned Frogs' ability to sign the nation's most touted transfer portal classes, groups that include 2025 Big 12 Player of the Year Hailey Van Lith, fellow All-Americans Olivia Miles and Sedona Prince, and WNBA Draft pick Madison Conner.
As a graduate assistant for TCU women’s basketball, Akomolafe had oversight of practice film and stat analysis. She was also responsible for opponent scouting, managed practice and game day operations and served as a point person between the program and TCU athletics administration.
Akomolafe was a focal point on the pioneering TCU women's basketball teams that began the program's transition to the Big 12. During her playing career, Akomolafe helped the Horned Frogs win 99 games and notch a trio of WNIT berths across her half decade on the hardwood. She guided the Horned Frogs to consecutive WNIT semifinal appearances in 2018 and 2019. The following year, Akomolafe averaged a career-best 5.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per outing while making 27 starts on a Horned Frogs squad that placed second outright in the Big 12 and was destined to return to the NCAA Tournament before the postseason was cancelled due to COVID-19.
For her career, Akomolafe suited up in a single-season record 135 contests in purple and white and earned the starting nod on 81 occasions. She concluded her run on the frog-scaled Schollmaier Arena court with 508 rebounds, 490 points, 162 assists and 78 blocks. Akomolafe earned Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention accolades as a senior in 2018-2019 and was an Academic All-Big 12 honoree in three seasons.
Akomolafe completed her bachelor’s degree in movement science from TCU in 2020. She obtained a master’s degree in educational leadership with an emphasis in higher education from TCU in 2023.
