Horned Frogs Lead Schooner Fall Classic After 18 Holes

TCU signs for a 10-under 70 in opening round at Belmar Golf Club
NORMAN, Okla. – TCU is all alone in first place following 18 holes of play at the Schooner Fall Classic.
The Horned Frogs collectively carded 23 birdies on Saturday at Belmar Golf Club on their way to a first round score of 10-under 270 and a two-stroke lead over second place and tournament host Oklahoma.
The score was good for the second-lowest 18-hole total in program history.
Camille Min-Gaultier, Ella Forss and Kirstin Angosta each signed for a four-under 66 to pace the Horned Frogs' fast start. The TCU trio will begin Sunday's second round tied for third and one shot back of co-leaders Ellie Bushnell (Oklahoma State) and Haruhi Nakatani (Florida State).
The Horned Frogs racked up 13 birdies in a six-hole spanning the sixth through 12th pins on the par-70 course. TCU played the back nine seven strokes under par to create separation.
Checking in at No. 27 in the inaugural Golfweek rankings, the Frogs hold a multi-stroke advantage over three teams slotted ahead of them in No. 10 Oklahoma State, No. 17 Iowa State and No. 21 Florida State. The 16-team field features seven programs from the Big 12.
TCU leads the field in birdies, par-3 scoring (-5, 2.88) and par-5 scoring (-5, 4.67). The only negative on the ledger and separating the Horned Frogs from a commanding lead was bogey avoidance. The Frogs' scorecard was inflated by five double bogeys.
Min-Gaultier, Forss and Angosta came one stroke shy of matching TCU's individual program record for low round.
Forss topped the 93-player field with seven birdies. Making her second collegiate start, the freshman set the table for TCU in the early going. Forss closed birdie four times on the front nine en route to a three-under 33. A native of Gothenburg, Sweden, Forss tacked on three additional birdies on holes 11, 12 and 16 to briefly hold the outright lead at six-under.
She has now posted three consecutive rounds of par or better dating back to the Horned Frogs' season-opener, the Pan Pacific University Golf Super League tournament, on Sept. 2-4. She tied for eighth, helping TCU to a runner-up finish.
Both Min-Gaultier and Angosta played bogey-free and finished two strokes under par on the back nine.
Min-Gaultier, who commanded the No. 1 spot in the Horned Frogs' lineup, notched her 17th career sub-70 round, moving to fourth outright in program history. The junior needs five sub-70's to tie Sabrina Iqbal ('22) for the all-time mark.
Angosta matched her collegiate low-18 record. She posted an identical opening-round score as a sophomore at the 2024 Schooner Fall Classic. Angosta made her season debut after being forced to miss TCU's trip to Japan due to illness.
Dating back to March, Angosta has scored par or better in 11 of her last 16 rounds in a TCU uniform, posting a 70.5 scoring average in that span.
Sofie Dimitrova gave TCU four players with an even or under-par score. Playing as an individual, Dimitrova shot even-par (70). One of two TCU seniors, Dimitrova recorded her lowest round since October of 2025. She is tied for 25th.
Gracie McGovern, the defending Schooner Fall Classic Champion, is tied for 54th after finishing two-over.
Henriette Gjelten tallied five birdies in her collegiate debut, ultimately concluding her round plus-four and tied for 68th.
TCU is aiming to win the Schooner Fall Classic as a team for the first time. The Horned Frogs are teeing it up on the plains for the eighth straight year and have finished as the runner-up on three occasions, including last season. TCU has twice produced the individual champion.
