FORT WORTH – Another former Horned Frog finds a professional home, as AJ Hennessey is set to join Sporting Club Jacksonville's Gainbridge Super League roster, the organization announced Thursday.
Hennessey, a forward from Norco, California, is a major attacking threat addition for Sporting JAX. A successful collegiate career with the Frogs saw 14 goals and 14 assists across 4,736 minutes played. With a career-high 23 caps and 23 starts during her senior campaign, Hennessey has played in 89 matches and earned 68 starts.
While this will be Hennessey's professional debut, it is not her first experience with a professional club. Earlier this year, Hennessey received a Preseason Camp Invite from Denver Summit FC of the NWSL, providing valuable experience for a newcomer to the pro ranks.
"This is an incredible opportunity," said Hennessey. "To play with a club that had such success in their first season is something you don't get to do very often, so I hope that I can contribute to the next, and make it just as successful."
Known as an energetic player on the pitch, Hennessey has provided countless memorable moments for TCU over her four years with the Frogs. More notably from this past season, Hennessey scored a game-winning goal in the final 10 minutes of action against Texas A&M to give TCU a 2-1 victory over its in-state rival.
