No. 3 TCU begins play on Friday in the semifinals vs. Baylor or Utah
FORT WORTH – The postseason has arrived for third-ranked TCU, starting with a chase for its 10th Big 12 championship.
The Horned Frogs begin play at the Big 12 Tournament on Friday at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Florida.
TCU (19-5, 7-1 Big 12) garnered the No. 2 seed and a first round bye in the six-team affair. The Frogs face either No. 3 seed Baylor (21-8, 6-2 Big 12) or No. 6 seed Utah (7-15, 2-6 Big 12) in the semifinals.
Though the Horned Frogs are not the No. 1 seed – a distinction that belongs to regular season champion Arizona – they will enter the Sunshine State as the prohibitive favorite to claim the crown. TCU is the league's top-rated team in the ITA rankings, a distinction it has held in all-but-one poll during the 2026 campaign, and has a conference-leading 10 top-30 wins to its credit.
The Frogs are preparing to face Baylor for the second time in the last five days come first serve on Friday. TCU walloped the Bears 4-1 on Sunday in Waco in its regular season finale. Assuming the bracket goes chalk, it will mark the fifth straight season in which TCU and Baylor have squared off three times.
TCU's most recent loss to Baylor came in the finals of the 2022 Big 12 Tournament in a 4-2 defeat in Fort Worth. Since that moment, TCU has dominated the rivalry, winning 11 straight matches at Baylor's expense. The streak includes a 4-1 victory on April 19, 2024 in Stillwater, Oklahoma in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals, TCU's first-and-only win vs. Baylor in conference tournament play. Baylor holds a 5-1 edge over the Horned Frogs in Big 12 Tournament affairs while TCU widened its lead in the all-time series to 47-26 with Sunday's result.
Should TCU advance to Saturday's championship, a rematch with ninth-ranked Arizona (20-3, 8-1 Big 12) likely awaits. The Wildcats have won 15 straight matches in an unbeaten run that includes a 4-0 home win over the Horned Frogs on March 22 in Tucson. The dual ultimately decided the league's regular season championship. TCU was without its No. 1 singles and doubles player in Cosme Rolland De Ravel and played away from home for the ninth time in a 10-match stretch that afternoon.
The loss has proven to be a turning point in the Horned Frogs' season. TCU is enjoying a six-match winning streak ahead of its arrival in Lake Nona. The Frogs have competed to an 11-1 record since March, with six top-25 wins to their credit in that span.
First serve for both the semifinals and final are set for 1 p.m. CT.
The entirety of the Big 12 Tournament will air live on ESPN+ while live stats are available via iOnCourt.
