FORT WORTH, Texas – Coming off a program-best third-place finish at last year's National Championship meet, TCU triathlon returns to the national stage this Sunday, Nov. 8, in Tempe, Arizona. The Horned Frogs will look to build on last season's historic performance as they compete against the nation's top collegiate programs.
Seven Horned Frogs will represent TCU at the national championships: Marley Andelman, Julia Visgueiro, Sara Gimena, Kadence Ribbink, Amanda Moro, Stefania Salazar and Gwen Watson. Anna Besenyei will serve as the team's alternate.
This year's national meet has been changed to a duathlon. The race format was formally altered on Thursday, Nov. 5 after it was determined water quality following heavy rainfall and water release flowing through Tempe Town Lake did not meet standards for a safe win.
The Frogs enter the national championship following a strong fall campaign that featured back-to-back victories at the Desert's Edge Triathlon and Navy Collegiate Cup. TCU has secured a podium finish in every race this season, a feat the program accomplished only once before, in 2024.
TCU's depth has been on full display throughout the season, with four Horned Frogs finishing in the top 10 at both the Desert's Edge Triathlon and Navy Collegiate Cup. At Desert's Edge, Marley Andelman (fifth), Sara Gimena (seventh), Gwen Watson (eighth) and Stefania Salazar (10th) led the way. At Navy, Salazar (fourth), Moro (sixth), Edita Pozlerová (seventh) and Emily Knopfle (eighth) all earned top-10 finishes.
Individually, Julia Visgueiro has continued to establish herself as one of the program's top competitors, finishing in the top five in every race she has competed in for TCU, while earning CTCA West All-Region honors. Visgueiro and Salazar have each recorded two top-10 finishes this season.
With a program-best third-place national finish already under its belt, TCU looks to carry its consistency and momentum into Tempe and make another statement on the national stage Sunday.
