Horned Frogs earn hard-fought top-10 victory thanks to a Seven Castain brace
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The No. 7 TCU women's soccer team secured a gritty 3-2 win over ninth-ranked Iowa on Thursday night at Iowa Soccer Complex. With the victory, Eric Bell becomes the all-time winningest head coach in program history, recording his 152nd win while leading the Horned Frogs.
THE RUNDOWN
The Horned Frogs (3-0) got the game's events started in the 10th minute, as Emma Yolinsky scored a beautiful highlight-reel goal, dribbling past multiple defenders with a perfectly placed shot outside the 18-yard box. TCU possessed most of the momentum for the first half, having eight shots with half of those being on goal. Iowa, however, would equalize in the 43rd minute, scoring off a corner kick to even the contest at 1-1 going into the break.
TCU came out with an intense nature in the second half, recording numerous shots in the first ten minutes and putting constant pressure on the ball whenever Iowa had possession. Seven Castain was able to break the gridlocked score in the 55th minute, scoring on a set piece. Kamdyn Fuller's feed into the 18 was headed by Morgan Brown right to the waiting Castain for the tap in and a 2-1 lead.
The scoring from the Frogs did not stop there, as Castain secured a brace in the 65th minute, this time a physical play in which she took on multiple Iowa defenders in the box and was able to find the back of the net for a two-goal advantage, 3-1.
Iowa put the pressure on trying to get back in the game. With just under five minutes to go, the Hawkeyes rang a shot off the far post. The narrow miss proved fortunate for the Frogs as Iowa managed to score in the 89th minute off a penalty kick.
Kira Ybarra played the full 90 minutes for TCU, recording two saves on the night.
STAT OF THE GAME

QUOTES OF THE GAME
Overall thoughts on the game…
"We started off a little slow, but we were able to find an early goal even though we played slow. I thought throughout the first half we did really well, and then they got a goal late in the first half, and it didn't feel right. In the second half, I thought we were on the front foot again, had control again and scored two really good goals for us. We had control of the game. I'm really proud of the performance by everybody. It's hard playing top teams on the road, and I thought we did a really good job of keeping the crowd out of the game and doing what we do best and won the game.
On making moments out of seemingly nothing …
"Hopefully that continues. We were pretty opportunistic with not some of the best passes in the second half, and then Emma (Yolinsky) does her thing in the first half to get the goal on the crossbar and down. We're resilient. We're finding our legs, rhythm and getting used to playing with each other. Hopefully that continues."
On becoming the winningest head coach in TCU women's soccer history…
"It's a credit to all of the players, former and current, that made this happen. Ryan (Higginbotham) has been with me the whole way, and we've been able to do this together. I'm really proud of that. I didn't even know it, and I wasn't even thinking about it; it's awesome. We'll celebrate, turn the page to tomorrow and try and get ready for Texas."
GAME NOTABLES
TCU will complete its road trip in Austin, Texas, as the Frogs are set to take on the Texas Longhorns. The game will take place on Thursday, Aug. 28, and be streamed on SEC Network+. First touch is set for 7 p.m.
