
TCU Wins Share of Ninth Big 12 Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Horned Frogs are back atop the Big 12 Conference.
No. 2 TCU clinched a share of its ninth Big 12 Championship on Sunday, defeating 67th-ranked Texas Tech 4-1 at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The conference title is TCU's ninth overall since 2015 and sixth of the regular season flavor. No program presently or formerly in the Big 12 have won more over the last decade.
The Horned Frogs (19-2, 7-0 Big 12) will go for an undisputed league championship when they host No. 16 Baylor on April 13 in their regular season finale. TCU pocketed a pair of 4-1 victories over the Bears (20-8, 5-1 Big 12) in Waco during the indoor season.
Sunday's result staked TCU to its first Big 12 regular season championship since 2022.
TCU was nearly perfect vs. the Red Raiders (12-9, 2-4 Big 12). The Horned Frogs did not surrender a seat all dual aside from a singles defeat on court four.
TCU locked up the doubles point with wins in the second and third positions, with Duncan Chan and Albert Pedrico securing the 1-0 lead via a 6-3 triumph over Niksa Arsic and Thiago Guglieri on two. Jack Pinnington, Lui Maxted and Chan then rolled to singles victories on courts one, two and six. The 12th-ranked Pinnington procured the match-clincher, downing Piotr Pawlak 6-3, 6-2.
The Horned Frogs improved to 10-0 on the outdoor courts this season.
TCU picked up its 12th consecutive win over Texas Tech and improved to 45-6 all-time vs. the Red Raiders
Roditi, now in his 15th season at the helm of his alma matter, moved within three victories of reaching 300 for his career.
Doubles Rundown
Filip Apltauer and Maxted were the first pair off the court for TCU for the second straight match.
Playing together for just the second time, Apltauer and Maxted rolled to a 6-2 takedown of Takeyasu Sekiguchi and Tyler Stewart. The TCU tandem broke twice and claimed 52 percent (11-21) of their return points. Apltauer and Maxted parlayed a break – the first of the afternoon – into a run of five straight games to assume a commanding 5-1 lead before Apltauer served out the affair.
Chan and Pedrico cleared a pathway to the doubles point with a break point up 4-3 on Arsic and Guglieri.
Pinnington and Cooper Woestendick, the ITA No. 58 doubles team, led Pawlak and Sebastian Abboud 5-2 as play was halted.
TCU improved to 17-4 overall and 4-3 on the round in doubles play.
Chan and Pedrico improved their record to 9-3 as partners and are now 4-1 vs. Big 12 opposition. The duo clinched the doubles point in both of TCU's victories this week, first doing so in Thursday's 4-0 shutout of no. 74 Oklahoma State.
Maxted moved to a team-leading 27-7 overall.

Singles Rundown
TCU swept the opening set on the top courts while Chan widened the Horned Frogs' pathway with a fourth first set victory in the sixth position.
Maxted eased past Arsic, 6-3, 6-1, on court two and increased TCU's advantage to 2-0. The senior built a 4-0 lead in set two.
Pinnington and Woestendick, the latter of whom faced Stewart, matched Maxted's first set scorecard while Chan secured a late break opposite Felipe Pagnacco en route to a 6-4 win.
Texas Tech halved the Horned Frogs lead, albeit momentarily, as Ludovico Vaccari got the better of Albert Pedrico, 6-3, 6-2.
Chan and Pinnington, though, built commanding set two leads to thwart any thought of a comeback by the home team.
The sophomore Chan closed the books on Pagnacco by winning four straight games and set up Pinnington's match-clincher.
Woestendick left his match unfinished at 6-3, 4-5, and was on serve vs. Stewart
Roger Pascual got the nod on court five for the second straight match. He dropped the opening set 4-6 to Guglieri but led 5-2 at the time of the clinch.
Chan was the lone Frog to win all four of his matches this week. He earned the match-clincher in the Frogs' victory over the Cowboys. Chan swelled his season singles record to 19-7.
Pinnington boosted his season record to 10-4, with all of his victories coming on court one.
Maxted picked up his team-leading 11th dual singles victory.
