Ngao breaks mile program record in College Station
FORT WORTH – For the second consecutive week, TCU track and field's Tabitha Ngao took down an indoor school record, this time running the fastest mile in program history at the Charlie Thomas Invitational.
Ngao paced the field to win the mile and rewrite the Horned Frogs' record book. She posted a 4:38.24 to break Gracie Morris' mark set last season by half a second. Later in the meet, the sophomore once again broke the R.A. Murray Fasken Indoor Track facility record in the 800m that she set two weeks ago.
TCU also saw strong distance performances from Tate Underwood, Graydon Morris and Drew Oliver. Underwood won his section and finished third overall in the 3000m with the ninth best time in school history. Morris and Oliver competed in the mile, recording top 10 times in the program record book.
At the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, TCU's sprinters competed in the 60m races. For the men, Kashie Crockett advanced to the semifinal and posted a 6.85 to finish 15th overall. A trio of Horned Frog women also punched their ticket to the 60m semifinals, led by Indya Mayberry with a 7.16, the fourth fastest time of the day.
Sophomore Amari Kiluvia finished fourth overall in the 60m hurdles, advancing through both the prelims and semifinals. She ran a career-best 8.13, besting her mark from earlier this season and breaking the TCU program record by one hundredth of a second (Brianna McGhee, 2016).
Ronnie Kendrick (47.78), Samarra Monrroy (53.85) and Amelliah Birdow (53.87) also competed for the Frogs in the 400m. TCU rounded out the New Mexico Collegiate Classic with a 3:34.52 showing in the women's 4x400 relay, a top 25 time in the event nationally.
The Frogs are back in action next weekend at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
