TCU Splits on Day One of Battle of The Bay

TCU continues competition against Saint Mary's and UC Davis on Saturday
STANFORD, Calif. – No. 6 TCU split its first day of competition at the Battle of The Bay on Friday evening.
The Horned Frogs fell in a close contest to No. 2 Stanford, 3-2, but bounced back and finished the day with a 5-0 sweep over Oregon.
QUICK HITS AGAINST NO. 2 STANFORD
• Anete Namike and Tara Patton fell to Stanford's Sorra/Wilson 21-19, 21-14 at the No. 2 position.
• Emma Glagau and Ana Vergara lost to Stanford's Hoffman/Reilly 21-16, 21-15 from the No. 4 spot.
• Keagan Polk and Morgan Williams were downed by the Cardinal's Harvey/Stowell 21-11, 21-18 at the No. 5 position.
• Sutton MacTavish and Alex Parkhurst secured the first Frog point from the No. 3 spot, 21-14, 21-11.
• The win is the duo's second win of the season and the first against a ranked opponent.
• Hailey Hamlett and Anhelina Khmil secured the second point for TCU at the No. 1 spot, defeating Stanford's Hodel/Rockwall in three sets.
• It's the duo's fifth win of the season and their third against a ranked opponent.
• Hamlett and Khmil defended their AVCA Pairs title, as the two defeated Stanford's Hodel/Rockwall in the fall to win the AVCA Pairs National Championship.
