The Horned Frogs fall to the loser’s bracket for the first time since 2021
HUNTSVILLE, ALA. – No. 2 TCU beach volleyball falls to 31-2 on the season after a dropping a 3-0 contest to No. 7 Grand Canyon on the opening day of the CCSA Conference Tournament in Huntsville, Ala.
Due to inclement weather this morning, the CCSA restructured its tournament format. Matches were played to decision: once three courts are won, the match ends.
The Horned Frogs move to the loser's bracket for the first time in the CCSA Conference Tournament since 2021.

No. 1 seed TCU is back in action tomorrow morning against No. 6 seed Missouri State in a win or go home battle at 9:30 a.m. Upon their victory, the Horned Frogs will take on the winner of No. 5 seed South Carolina and No. 2 seed Florida State.

QUICK HITS AGAINST NO. 7 GRAND CANYON:
- The Horned Frogs started the contest strong, winning three out of the five first sets of the day.
- Anhelina Khmil and Kate Privett were the first TCU duo to finish the match from the No. 2 position.
- The pairing dopped their first set 15-21, before just falling short of the comeback in set two 17-21.
- Sutton MacTavish and Hailey Hamlett were the second Horned Frog duo to complete their dual.
- The pairing fell 15-21, 15-21 to the GCU No. 3 pairing.
- With the victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, the Lopes lead the Horned Frogs 2-0 and only needed one more pairing to finish to clinch the match.
- Meanwhile, No. 1's Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno were forced to three sets along with No. 4's Maria Gonzalez and Ana Vergara.
- It all came down to No. 5's Hailey Brockett and Rochelle Scott. The duo needed to force a third set to keep TCU alive.
- The pairing put up a hard fight but just fell short, 21-23.
- Alvarez/Moreno and Gonzalez/Vergara's matches were left unfinished, despite both significantly leading in the third set, due to the new CCSA decision rule.
