Frogs set for home opener
FORT WORTH – TCU swimming and diving is set to host BYU in home opener and first dual meet of the season at the University Rec Center on Friday. The meet will be split into two sessions beginning at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. respectively.
LAST TIME OUT
The Frogs are coming off a strong performance at the FSU Classic where the women's team placed second with a score of 191 and the men, third, with a score of 170. Anna Kwong highlighted the day as she brought home the gold in the 3-meter while also securing her first Zone cut of the season.
Piotr Sadlowski had a successful day where he swam the fourth-fastest time in school history in the 100 fly with a time of 47.96. Tania Quaglieri earned her first career victory as a Horned Frog in the 200 back swimming to a 2:02.56.
The women's relays brought gold in both the 400 Free (3:25.38) and 200 Free (1:33.91). Serena Gould, Mikayla Popham, Olivia Rhodes and Quaglieri comprise both of the relay teams.
LAST TIME VS. BYU
The Frogs shattered multiple program records and brought multiple gold medals back to Fort Worth despite falling to the Cougars 180-140 on the men's side and 172-159 on the women's.
David Ekdahl and Anna Kwong highlighted the day with the best performances in program history. In six dives, Ekdahl scored a record breaking 430.20 in the 3-meter. Kwong added to the record-breaking day on the 1-meter, with a 324.65 performance topping all-time program scores.
BIG 12 AWARDS
Following the start to the season, the Horned Frogs were honored with four Big 12 weekly awards.
Sadlowski earned his second Men's Swimmer of the Week honor, Rhodes was the weeks Women's Big 12 Swimmer of the Week, Kwong was the Big 12 Diver of the week and Nina Vadovicova earned the Newcomer of the Week award.
