FORT WORTH – After a successful season opener, the TCU track & field teams will compete at the Red Raider Open, while the distance program heads to the Vanderbilt Invitational.

Last Time Out
In the first meet of the year, Jaren Holmes won the triple jump at the Arkansas Invitational with a mark of 16.14m (52-11.50). The mark is the third furthest in Division I this season.
Ben Kirbo shined in his Horned Frog as he broke the indoor school record in the pole vault. He cleared 5.10m (16-8.75), which earned him a sixth-place finish.
Collectively, seven different TCU entries recorded nationally-ranked Top 50 marks and nine Horned Frogs are now on the all-time indoor records list. In her TCU debut, Iyana Gray placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 60m (7.39) and 200m (23.94).
Several other Frogs recorded top 5 finishes as well. Patrick Sylla jumped to a second-place finish in the long jump with his leap of 7.35m (24-1.5).
Simbarashe Maketa shined in the men's 200m as his time of 21.63 was good for third overall. In the men's 400m, Ethan Brown placed fourth overall with his time of 47.93.
Graydon Morris had a stellar race in his first meet at TCU. The Texas transfer placed third overall in the men's 3,000m with a time of 8:18.15, earning him the fourth-fastest time in school history.
Also notching a top 5 finish was Genesis Jackson in the triple jump. The freshman placed fourth overall with her mark of 11.96m (39-3).
Ryan Martin was flying in Fayetteville in the 1,000m. Martin ran a personal-best time of 2:26.22, winning his heat and finishing fourth overall. It was the third-fastest time in school history in the 1,000m.
Returning Athletes
TCU returns several key Horned Frogs that qualified for last year's 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Gracie Morris, who qualified for the 1500m last year in Eugene, will race in the 3,000m in Fayetteville. Jaren Holmes, a Second Team All-American in the triple jump this past outdoor season, will take flight in the triple jump.
2022 Recap
Chengetayi (Du) Mapaya won his second outdoor title in the triple jump at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Mapaya's defining jump came on his third attempt when the Harare, Zimbabwe, native jumped 17.26m (56-7.50) breaking his own school record and recording a life-time best. It was the second time that season Mapaya cleared 17.00m.
Additionally, the men's 4x100 relay team of Bryson Stubblefield, Tinotenda Matiyenga, Kundai Maguranyanga and Robert Gregory Jr. were named First Team All-Americans in the 4x100 relay after finishing seventh in the finals with a time of 39.08.
Gracie Morris (1500m) and Grace Anigbata (triple jump) both earned Honorable Mention All America honors as well.
TCU concluded the 2021-22 season winning three individual Big 12 Championships and breaking eight school records.
