
Holmes Jumps Top Mark at Arkansas Invitational

Eight Frogs are now on TCU's all-time top 10 records list
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Behind Jaren Holmes' winning leap in the triple jump and eight all-time top 10 program marks, the TCU track and field teams shined at the season-opening Arkansas Invitational on Friday.
Highlighting the day for TCU was Holmes' triple jump victory. The 2022 NCAA Outdoor qualifier leaped a 16.14m (52-11.50), the current No. 1 Division I mark in the country. He is one of three athletes to jump over 16.00m so far this season. It's the fifth furthest indoor mark in school history.
Patrick Sylla jumped to a second-place finish in the long jump with his leap of 7.35m (24-1.5). Coming in behind him was freshman Gavin Champ whose mark of 7.19m (23-7.25) earned him a sixth-place finish.
Simbarashe Maketa shined in the men's 200m as his time of 21.63 was good for third overall. In the men's 400m, Ethan Brown placed fourth overall with his time of 47.93.
Graydon Morris had a stellar race in his first meet at TCU. The Texas transfer placed third overall in the men's 3,000m with a time of 8:18.15, earning him the fourth-fastest time in school history.
Also notching a top 5 finish was Genesis Jackson in the triple jump. The freshman placed fourth overall with her mark of 11.96m (39-3).
Ryan Martin was flying in Fayetteville in the 1,000m. Martin ran a personal-best time of 2:26.22, winning his heat and finishing fourth overall. It was the third-fastest time in school history in the 1,000m.
Iyana Gray was not messing around in her first meet at TCU. Competing in the 60m (7.39) and 200m (23.94), she finished fourth and fifth overall, respectively. Both of her times were top 10 all-time in program history.
In his Horned Frog debut, Benjamin Kirbo broke the indoor school record in the pole vault with his height of 5.10m (16-8.75). He placed sixth overall in the event.
Jill Johnson (6th) and Jade Ferrell (7th) both finished in the top 10 in the women's long jump with heights of 1.65m, respectively.
Recording a huge personal-record was Mariana Martinez as her time of 9:49.91 was the first sub-10 minute 3,000m race she ever ran. She placed ninth overall in the event and ran the ninth-fastest time in school history.
Placing 10th overall in the women's pole vault was Quinn Calhoun. She cleared 3.83m (12-6.75) in her first TCU meet. London Culbreath ran the fourth-fastest time in school history in the 1,000m with a time of 2:57.41.
