Horned Frogs improve to 11-0, defeat No. 10 California at Outrigger Queen’s Cup

MANOA, Hawaii -- No. 5 TCU Beach Volleyball (11-0) delivered a stellar performance during the first day of the Outrigger Queen's Cup in Manoa, Hawaii. The Horned Frogs took down Nebraska, 5-0, and No. 10 California, 4-1, to stay perfect on the season. TCU has defeated three Top 10 opponents this season, the most in program history.

Five Frogs had perfect days: Daniela Alvarez, Tania Moreno, Sutton MacTavish, Kaylie McHugh and Megan Muret. Muret remains unbeaten (11-0), securing points for TCU in every match this season.

The Horned Frogs are 7-0 against ranked teams so far, just three shy of the program record set last season. All four TCU matches against non-ranked opponents have been 5-0 sweeps.

QUICK HITS AGAINST Nebraska:

MacTavish and McHugh scored the first point for the Horned Frogs, winning in two sets at the No. 2 position: 21-12, 21-11.
The duo achieves their first win as a pair this season.
Tara Patton and Hayley Boll won the next match in two sets at the No. 4 position: 21-18, 22-20.
This is the duos first appearance and win together as a pair.
Boll and Patton both improve to 3-0 this season, individually.
Alvarez and Moreno clinched the match for the Frogs at No 1: 21-12, 21-11.
With this victory, they notch their 35th career win as a collegiate pairing.
Megan Muret and Peyton Yamagata scored the next point for TCU in a two-set victory at No. 5: 21-6, 21-8
The 23-point differential is the highest of any TCU pairing this season.
This is the duos first appearance and victory as a pairing.
Yamagata is 4-0 in her matches this season and 7-2 over her TCU career.
Hailey Hamlett and Hailey Brockett scored the final point for the Horned Frogs at the No. 3 position: 21-18, 21-18.
The duo improves to 2-0 this season as a pairing.
The victory over Nebraska marks TCU's fourth 5-0 sweep of the season.
TCU currently leads Nebraska 3-0 in all-time meetups.

QUICK HITS AGAINST No. 10 California:

MacTavish and McHugh scored the first point for the Horned Frogs, for the second time today, winning in two sets at the No. 2 position: 21-15, 21-19.
The duo improves to 2-2 as a pairing and achieves their first win as a pairing over a ranked opponent.
Maria Gonzalez and Ana Vergara won the next match at the No. 4 position: 21-19, 17-21, 15-11
The duo remains undefeated with a perfect 7-0 record.
Gonzalez and Vergara improve to 5-0 in three-set matches, winning their third sets by an average margin of 3.8 points (15-11.2).
Rochelle Scott and Megan Muret clinched the victory in two sets at the No. 5 position: 21-13, 21-11.
The pairing remains unbeaten, 9-0, this season.
They improve to 7-0 over ranked opponents.
Alvarez and Moreno won their match in two sets at No 1: 21-15, 21-19.
The duo notches their 10^th victory as a pair this season.
This is the first meetup in program history between the Horned Frogs and the Bears.
