No. 9 TCU Beach Volleyball hosts the Horned Frog Challenge
FORT WORTH – No. 9 TCU beach volleyball (3-1) is set to host the Horned Frog Challenge, beginning this Friday, Mar. 5-6. This is the first home tournament for the Horned Frogs this season. TCU posted a 7-1 record at home last season, the best mark in program history.
The matches this weekend are open to the public. Outdoor social distancing policies will be in effect.

The Horned Frogs are coming off a 3-1 showing at the Stetson Spring Fling in DeLand, Florida. TCU defeated 3 top-25 including No. 12 Florida Atlantic, No. 13 Florida International and No. 14 South Carolina, after dropping a 3-2 contest to the hosts, No. 11 Stetson.
Three Frogs finished the weekend with perfect 4-0 records, led by the No. 1 pair of Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno Mateeva. The duo won all four matches without dropping a set. Alvarez and Moreno were named the first CCSA and AVCA Pair of the Week for the 2021 season. Rochelle Scott also delivered a perfect performance as she won all four of her matches, playing at the No. 3 and 4 positions.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Central Arkansas enters play after a 5-0 weekend at the Schoals Beach Bash in Florence, Ala. The Beach Bears are yet to face a ranked opponent this season.
No. 14 Florida International will go toe-to-toe with the Horned Frogs again this weekend, after the Frogs took down FIU at the Stetson Spring Fling. The Panthers are 3-3 this season with only one top-25 win, over No. 11 Stetson.
UAB enters the weekend 3-1 with all three of those matches coming in as 5-0 sweeps. The Horned Frogs won, 4-1, against UAB the last time they met up in 2019.
Southern Mississippi comes to Fort Worth 0-4 after four 0-5 losses against No. 3 Florida State, No. 6 Cal Poly, No. 8 Loyola Marymount and No. 18 Georgia State. This will be the first-ever meeting between TCU and Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles are in their third year as a program.
