FROG FOCUS
The Horned Frogs enter the weekend after a 12-day hiatus due to inclement weather. As a result of the schedule shift, TCU will play USC for the second match in a row, after the Frogs knocked off the then No. 1-ranked Trojans at the ITA Indoor National Championships (Feb. 14).
Alastair Gray will be hoping for a more direct path to victory this time around against the Trojans. Gray delivered the best win of his career in his last match, coming back from down, 1-3 in his third set against the No. 1-ranked player in the nation, before coming all the way back to win the match and give TCU a 4-3 victory.
Luc Fomba enters the weekend in remarkable form. The third-year Frenchman won all three of his singles matches at Indoor Nationals, all at No. 2 singles. He was named to the All-Tournament team for his efforts.
THE OPPONENTS
USC has dropped from No. 1 to No. 9 in the latest ITA rankings after falling to Illinois, Texas and TCU at Indoor Nationals. The Trojans have rebounded since then, winning their first game after the tournament, 4-0, over Oklahoma State. The Trojans boast five ranked singles players and two ranked doubles pairings. This will be the 12th all-time meeting between TCU and USC. The Trojans lead the series, 6-5.
Pepperdine enters the weekend with a 2-3 record. The Waves dropped their first three matches of the season to Texas A&M, Arizona and Arizona State, all of which are now ranked in the Top 25. They are coming off a decisive, 5-2, victory over Oklahoma State last Sunday (Feb. 21). This will be the 20th meeting between the two schools. Pepperdine leads the all-time series, 14-5. However, the Frogs are riding a three-match winning streak in the series. TCU is 3-0 against Pepperdine in the Roditi era.
