Staff honored for second straight season
FORT WORTH - The TCU women's soccer coaching staff was voted as the Midwest Region Staff of the Year. It marks the second straight year the staff has been recognized.
It was another historical year for the women's soccer program and the accomplishments were plenty. TCU took home both the regular season and tournament titles, becoming just the 10th program in Big 12 history to accomplish the feat. Additionally, the Horned Frogs rewrote the school record book, posting season records for wins (17), goals (60), assists (72), points (192) and shutouts (13). TCU was one of three schools to rank in the top 10 nationally in goals against average and total points.
Head Coach Eric Bell was selected as the Big 12 Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Along with his staff of Ryan Higginbotham, Tom Serratore and Hannah Grant, the group mentored multiple award winners. Lauren Kellett was named the Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Year, while Brandi Peterson was tabbed the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. Additionally, Gracie Brian, Messiah Bright, Grace Collins Payton Crews and Jenna Winebrenner were tabbed all-conference performers. Brenna Brosam, Camryn Lancaster and Oli Pena were selected to the Big 12 All-Freshman squad.
In his 10th season as the head coach, Bell notched a pair of coaching milestones during the season. He earned his 100th career coaching victory against Colorado on Sept. 2. Just over a month later, he collected his 100th career win at TCU with a 3-0 victory over Oklahoma State on Oct. 10.
TCU again made a run in the NCAA Tournament, earning a No. 4 National Seed and advancing to the Sweet Sixteen. The Horned Frogs finished the season with an 18-2-3 mark that included four wins over top 20 opponents. TCU spent the majority of the season ranked in the Top 10 of the national polls.
