
TCU Has Strong First Day at FIU TYR Fall Classic

Frogs Notch Three First-Place Finishes
MIAMI – The Horned Frogs had a strong showing at Day One of the FIU TYR Fall Classic. The men's team sits in second after the first day of competition with a team score of 158 points, while the women's team is in third place with 148.5 points.
Highlighting the day for the women was Francesca Pasquino as she took first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.01. Also notching a win was Emma Hultquist as her time of 1:50.19 was good for first in the 200 freestyle.
Coming in fourth in the 400 IM was Megan Morris with a time of 4:35.88. Olivia Rhodes also recorded a fourth-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.87.
Rounding out the day was the 200 freestyle relay team of Hultquist, Rhodes, Claire Chahbandour and Sally Clough that placed third with a time of 1:35.59.
David Ekdahl led the way for the Frogs with a score of 326.30 on the 1-meter, picking up the win and his second Zone cut of the season.
Stefan Varga, Janis Silins, Piotr Sadlowski and Noah Cumby placed second in the 400 medley relay as they swam a time of 3:20.52. Also finishing in second was Geremia Freri in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:38.58.
Luke DiMiceli swam to a second-place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 3:58.76.
In the 100 butterfly, Sadlowski finished third with a time of 49.30. Also notching a third-place finish was Silins in the 100 breast with a time of 55.87. Raphael Paiva Da Lima's time of 21.03 was good for third in the 50 freestyle.
Finishing up the day for the men's team was the third-place 200 freestyle relay team. The squad of Paiva Da Lima, Sadlowski, Varga and Cumby swam a time of 1:22.85.

The Frogs compete at Day Two of the FIU TYR Fall Classic tomorrow at 9 a.m. in Miami, while TCU also hosts a home meet against UT Permian Basin starting at 10 a.m. in the University Recreation Center.
