TCU is hosting the ITA Weekend Kickoff for the sixth consecutive year. The Horned Frogs are hoping for their third-consecutive berth into the Indoor National Championships and the 18th overall appearance as a program.
The Horned Frogs enter the weekend on a 10-match winning streak dating back to the 2020 Indoor National Championships. They defeated Tulsa in the first dual of 2021 on Sunday, 4-1. Alastair Gray secured his first ranked singles win of the season, when he took down No. 67 Pearson, helping him take home the first Big 12 Player of the Week award of the new season.
Other notable Horned Frogs entering the weekend include Sander Jong and Juan Martín. Jong, ranked No. 123 in singles and No. 24 in doubles with his partner Tadeas Paroulek, enters the weekend with a 10-match dual singles winning streak dating back to Feb. 14, 2020. He began his streak playing No. 6 singles and No. 2 doubles, he is now up to the No. 3 singles position and the No. 1 doubles pairing.
Martín is coming off of his first dual singles win as a Horned Frog against Tulsa. The fourth-year player is seeing his first stretch of regular playing time at TCU, after missing all of last season with an injury. He currently stands as the second winningest Horned Frog in singles matches this season, including the fall season, with seven wins, one behind the team-leader, Luc Fomba.
