The Horned Frogs face the Falcons in their 2019 home opener
FORT WORTH — TCU swimming and diving faces UT Permian Basin in its 2019-20 home opener at 2 p.m. on Friday at the University Rec Center.
The Series
This is the fifth-straight season that TCU has hosted UT Permian Basin for its home opener. The Horned Frogs are 6-0 against the Falcons dating back to 2012. Last season, the men prevailed, 194-124, while the women won, 203-201.
Last Time Out
This past weekend eight TCU swimmers traveled to Lawrence, Kan., to compete at the CSCAA Open Water Nationals 5K. Nick Skinner garnered a second-place finish with a mark of 1:00:05.7. Fellow Freshman Abigail Meder led the women, swimming a 1:06:30.6 en route to 16th place.
All four Frogs on the men's side placed in the top 15 while a pair of TCU women positioned themselves in the top 20. As a team, the men placed third and the women ranked seventh.
The Winchester Era
The James Winchester era enters year two after a progressive year one. Last year saw the women's team record its highest conference finish in five years. TCU's men's team collected a third-place finish at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship. Divers Izzy Ashdown and Connie Deighton became the first Horned Frogs to reach NCAA Zones since the 2014-15 season.
