Longmire Earns First-Team All-American

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – TCU track and field began competition at the 2019 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday with Destiny Longmire competing in the women's long jump and Derrick Mokaleng in the men's 400m. Longmire finished as a First-Team All-American while Mokaleng advanced to Saturday's 400m finals.

LONGMIRE
With a jump of 6.34m (20-9.75), Longmire finished fourth overall. She entered the meet as the fifth seed. Before she transferred to TCU, Longmire was a Second-Team All-American at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

MOKALENG
For the second year in a row, Mokaleng advanced to the 400m finals at the indoor championships. In Friday's semifinals, Mokaleng finished fourth with a time of 46.52. Three of the top four semifinal times came from Mokaleng's heat. The junior from South Africa will chase his first NCAA title in the finals, scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday.

DAY TWO
In addition to Mokaleng in the 400m finals, Saturday will feature Chengetayi Mapaya in the men's triple jump and TCU's men's 4x400 relay. Mapaya will jump at 5 p.m. and the relay will wrap up the meet at 6:55 p.m.
