Miller, the Big 12 100-meter champion, raced to a 10.20 finish in a highly competitive heat. Miller's time earned him the 11th of 12 spots to move on to nationals in Eugene, Ore., which will take place June 7-10.
In the 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Brittney Trought automatically qualified for the quarterfinals with a second-place finish in heat one. Trought's time of 13.12 (w+4.1) was the seventh-fastest time recorded on Friday. She will look to punch her ticket and make her first appearance at nationals at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday.
In an historic 400-meter race, freshman Derrick Mokaleng moved to No. 9 on TCU's all-time list with a personal-best time of 45.96. Mokaleng's time just missed out on moving on to the NCAA Championships as he finished 13th overall.
The Horned Frogs will begin the final day of the West Prelims at 1 p.m. Saturday with the men's discus. Running events will kick off at 6 p.m. with the 4x100-meter relays.
