
Track & Field Takes Four Wins In Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The TCU track and field team won four events, and the men's 4x100 relay team ran the No. 7 time in the NCAA at the Jim Click Shootout at Roy P. Drachman Stadium in Tucson, Ariz. on Saturday.
The 4x100-relay team of senior Raymond Bozmans, junior Emeilo Ferguson, sophomore Darrion Flowers and junior Jalen Miller blazed to a 39.32 finish in the event, marking the seventh-fastest time in the nation this season.
Ferguson had a highly productive meet for the Horned Frogs. After the 4x100 relay, Ferguson produced a season-best time of 10.34 in the 100-meter dash. Ferguson ran stride-for-stride with Wisconsin's Lorenzo Larry, who ended up edging out the win by one-thousandth of a second. Miller followed in fourth place at 10.36.
Freshman Derrick Mokaleng also moved into the national spotlight as he recorded the NCAA's No. 10 time in the 400 meters at 46.19. Mokaleng's race shattered his previous personal best by .54 seconds and earned him second place in the event. Junior Kevin McClanahan logged a personal-best time of his own in the same race with a time of 46.73.
Senior Paola Miranda began the day with a second-place finish in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 185 feet 7.75 inches (56.59 meters). On the men's side, sophomore Fellan McGuigan posted his third-straight season-best mark this year at 205 feet 2.75 inches (62.56 meters), placing third.
Junior Scotty Newton swept both jumping events on Saturday. Newton leaped 25 feet 1.5 inches (7.66 meters) in the triple jump and 50 feet 11.75 inches (15.54 meters) in the long jump en route to two first-place marks. In the women's long jump, junior Briona Oliver took home second place with a mark of 19 feet 2.25 inches (5.85 meters).
Junior Tiffany Terry moved to No. 7 on TCU's all-time list in the 800 meters with a winning time of 2:10.73.
Sophomore Brenley Goertzen continued to produce as she logged a third-place time of 4:27.90 in the 1,500-meter race. Goertzen's effort was .54 seconds off her personal and season best.
In addition to his performance in the 4x1, Flowers also ran a personal-best time of 21.12 in the 200 meters.
To close out the meet, McClanahan, freshman Ryan Champlin, Ferguson and Mokaleng logged a second-place time of 3:08.24 in the men's 4x400-meter relay.
