
TCU Secures Four Gold Medals In Austin

AUSTIN, Texas – The TCU men's and women's track and field team took home four gold medals at the Longhorn Invitational in a windy Austin, Texas, on Saturday.
TCU went 1-2 in the men's 100-meter dash. Junior Jalen Miller recorded a first-place time of 10.25 (w+3.8), while sophomore Darrion Flowers followed closely in second at 10.26.
Sophomore Brenley Goertzen opened the day with a first-place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:30.00. Saturday's outcome marked the third 1500-meter victory for the Woodbury, Minn., native this season.
Junior Tiffany Terry secured her second win of the season in the 800 meters as she led the field with a time of 2:12.60.
Junior Sabrina Moore continued to have a successful third year with the Horned Frogs. Moore took home the top collegiate time in the 100-meter dash at 11.41 (w+4.4).
Freshman Derrick Mokaleng led the Frogs in the 400 meters as he secured a second-place finish at 46.42.
In spite of a gusty afternoon, senior Judy Emeodi produced a wind-legal time of 23.70 in the 200-meter dash en route to a fifth-place finish. Sophomore Kayla Heard followed in sixth place with a wind-legal time as well at 24.09.
On the throwing side, freshman Isaiah Rogers logged the second-best shot put mark of the season with a distance of 58 feet 3.25 inches (17.76 meters), placing fourth. In the men's discus, freshman Ryan Camp placed sixth overall after logging a throw of 168 feet 6 inches (51.36 meters).
Among the competition at Mike A. Myers Stadium were four former TCU greats. Charles Silmon of Adidas competed in the 100 meters, clocking in with a time of 10.01 (w+3.0), and Ronnie Baker of Nike produced a time of 20.06 (w+4.3) in the 200 meters. Also competing among current Frogs was Brianna McGhee and Virgil Hodge.
Overall, the men's team placed fourth overall out of 12 teams with 67 points, and the women's squad finished third overall out of 10 teams with 88 points.
TCU has an upcoming open week before setting out to Lawrence, Kan., for the Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 12-14.
