
Rifle Stays Perfect; Tops Air Force

FORT WORTH – For the sixth time in seven matches, the TCU rifle team surpassed the 4,700 plateau. The Horned Frogs defeated Air Force 4,712-4,684 to stay undefeated. The 4,712 is the fifth-highest score in program history.
A solid effort in smallbore saw the Frogs fire a team score of 2,341, fifth-highest in school history. TCU produced five of the top six match scores.
Mindy Miles and Casey Lutz tied for tops in the match with identical scores of 587. For Lutz, she ties her personal-best, which she shot in her first collegiate match. With a 35 center shots, Ariana Grabowski finished third after firing a 585. Sally Li rounded out the counters with a 582 and a fifth-place finish. While not factoring into the team score, Nicole Hankey shot a season-high 580.
TCU took a narrow six-point victory in air rifle after shooting a 2,371. All four counting scores were 590 or better for the Horned Frogs. Rachel Garner topped all shooters with a 596 followed closely by Miles' 595. Lutz and Li fired identical 590s to finish sixth and seventh, respectively.
Air Force posted a 2,319 in smallbore led by Spencer Cap's 580. Anna Weilbacher also topped the 580 mark, finishing seventh in the match. In air rifle, the Falcons produced three of the top five marks. Cap and Logan Ogden fired identical scores of 594 to finish third and fourth, respectively.
Miles took home the first place in the match with an aggregate score of 1,182. It's the fifth time this season she has posted an aggregate score over 1,180. Lutz fell a point shy of her personal best with an aggregate score of 1,177 to finish third. Garner rounded out the top five with a 1,176 aggregate score.
TCU (7-0) and Air Force will wrap up the weekend with another match on Sunday.
