FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's track and field team moved to No. 17 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) computer rankings, it was announced today.
It's the second-straight week the Horned Frogs have posted top-20 rankings.
The ranking comes only three days after sophomore Cameron Echols-Luper claimed the long jump title at the Big 12 Indoor Championships on Friday in Ames, Iowa. His mark of 7.61m (24-11.75) on his second attempt of the finals gave TCU its first men's indoor long jump title since 2004. Senior Ramone Bailey also finished sixth in the event at 7.31m (23-11.75).
In the 60-meter finals, the Horned Frogs had three representatives behind junior Ronnie Baker and sophomores Kolby Listenbee and Raymond Bozmans. Baker finished second by 0.003 seconds in a photo finish at 6.588. Listenbee (6.82) and Bozmans (6.85) finished sixth and seventh in the race, respectively.
Freshman Scotty Newton recorded a third-place mark in the triple jump at 15.02m (49-3.50). Sophomore Ryan Finnie tied his personal-best at 14.05m (46-1.25) and finished seventh.
The 4x400 relay team paced to a fourth-place time at 3:08.62. The team consisted of freshman Kevin McClanahan, Bozmans, junior Sam Watts and Baker.
Watts (21.10) and Listenbee (21.36) also picked up fifth and sixth-place marks in the 200 meters.
In the men's weight throw, junior Adam Damadzic notched a personal-best of 18.07m (59-3.50), en route to a sixth-place finish.
