FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU men's track and field's Sam Watts earned the Big 12 Male Co-Athlete of the Week award for his performance at the New Mexico Team Invitational last weekend, the league announced today.
It is the first time he has received the honor.
Watts, a junior from London, England, won the 200-meter dash behind a world-leading time of 20.69 seconds. He also set a personal-record in the 60 meters with a time of 6.84.
Two weeks earlier, Watts teamed up with Kevin McClanahan, Raymond Bozmans and Ronnie Baker to post a time of 3:08.26 in the 4x400 relay. The time is the fastest in the Big 12 and ranks sixth overall in NCAA competition this season.
Watts and the Horned Frogs return to the track at the Texas A&M Aggie Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 7, in College Station.
