PEORIA, Ill. -- TCU had three players score in double-figures Wednesday night en route to a 53-49 decision over Bradley inside the Peoria Civic Center.
The Rundown
Chauncey Collins led the Horned Frogs with 12 points and a career-high eight boards on the night. Fellow guard Michael Williams tallied a season-high 10 points, while Vladimir Brodziansky rounded out the Horned Frog notables, scoring 10 points.
With the win, the Frogs improved to 7-4 overall, while the Braves dropped to 2-11 on the year. The Purple and White have now won 25 of their last 29 non-conference games.
For the game, TCU, who led by as many as 11 Wednesday, did most of its damage off the bench, outscoring Bradley, 23-12. The Frogs also forced the Braves into 23 turnovers and 23.8 percent beyond the arc.
Brodziansky got TCU going early in the second half, scoring the first five for the Purple and White despite Bradley cutting it to five at 35-30 with 14 minutes showing on the clock.
The two teams would go back and forth the next couple of trips, but the Frogs would put down the clamps on the defensive end, holding the Braves without a bucket for over 7 minutes of action. During the stretch, Bradley went 0-for-6 from the field.
TCU built its lead to 10 at the charity stripe down the stretch, but the Braves would not go away, cutting it to 43-37 late before Brodziansky made both at the line to give the Purple and White an eight point lead with 3:50 left.
TCU was able to make enough at the free throw line late, despite Bradley pulling within two in the closing seconds, to move to 7-4 on the season.
The two teams opened the game going back and forth until Brandon Parrish buried a triple from the left side to give TCU a 5-4 advantage with 17:20 showing on the clock. A few plays later, Williams got into the act, driving into the paint and floating in a jumper to make the scoreboard read 9-7 in slight favor of Bradley.
Malique Trent made it a 13-12 ballgame midway through, tickling the twine from deep with a little over 10 minutes remaining in the half. JD Miller then went to work, scoring the next six for the Frogs, including a tough layup at the 7:46 mark to make the scoreboard read 18-16 in favor of TCU.
By the time Williams found the bottom of the net off a layup, the Purple and White were on 12-2 run to take a 24-16 advantage with 5:28 left in the opening frame. The junior would continue his hot play down the stretch, knocking down a deep three late, which propelled TCU to a 30-21 advantage at intermission.
