Hills Earns NCAA Cut Time

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU swimming team concluded the second day of the Art Adamson Invitational on Friday, and the diving team wrapped up their second day at the UT Invite.
Twenty-five Horned Frogs competed in the finals on Friday.
Freshman Ally Robertson kicked things off for the Horned Frogs during Friday night's finals events. Robertson earned a 10th-place finish in the 400-yard IM after clocking in at 4:19.97. Senior Catherine Rash finished at 4:27.31, placing 20th, with freshman Victoria Barczyk placing 22nd at 4:30.80.
In the men's 400-yard IM, sophomore Carlos Hunnicutt posted a team-best 3:57.31 and earned sixth place. Junior John Remetta also placed in the finals, finishing 21st with a time of 4:02.03. Freshman Rhorer Legendre rounded out the Horned Frog effort placing 24th (4:08.12).
Freshman Catherine Maxey represented TCU in the women's 100-yard butterfly, finishing 27th with a time of 56.26.
In the men's 100 fly, Junior Garrett Hills earned an NCAA "B" cut time of 48.22, placing fifth overall. Sophomore Matt Spallas placed 24th in the finals at 50.38.
Freshman Tommy Thach led the Frogs in the 200-yard freestyle with a 10th-place time of 1:38.90. Freshman Leo Sanchez followed closely at 11th (1:39.09). Sophomore Owen Pink placed 14th with a time of 1:41.71. Freshman Jack McLaughlin placed 27th in the finals at 1:41.57, and sophomore Weston Miller finished 31st at 1:43.09.
In the women's 100-yard breaststroke, sophomore Lindsay Shabet earned a team-best 1:03.67, placing 21st. Sophomore Devin Newton garnered a 25th-place time of 1:02.98, with junior Ashley Dyke and senior Michelle Garland following at 26th and 27th with times of 1:03.38 and 1:04.16, respectively.
Senior Ford Story finished 12th in the men's 100-yard breaststroke at 55.51, just shy of an NCAA "B" cut time by less than one-twentieth of a second. Senior Cameron Rattray placed 29th at 58.18, and Hills followed at 30th (58.28).
Freshman Maddie Ibrahim represented the Frogs in the women's 100-yard backstroke with a 26th-place time 56.48.
In the men's 100-yard backstroke, sophomore Darian Nezami and Sanchez tied, placing 28th at 50.90. Junior Jake Powell followed with a 30th-place time of 51.27.
The women's 800-yard freestyle relay team of Robertson, senior Mikayla Winkler, Maxey and Barczyk earned an 11th-place finish, clocking in at 7:30.17.
Closing out Friday's finals in College Station were Hunnicutt, McLaughlin, Sanchez and Thach earning eighth place in the men's 800-yard freestyle relay (6:42.87).
At the UT Diving Invite, freshman Drew Webb posted a score of 321.2 in the men's 3-meter final, placing sixth overall.
TCU will wrap up their sessions in College Station with Saturday's finals beginning at 6 p.m.
